FAQ

After a break-in in Bournemouth

I'm a tenant and my landlord isn't answering, will you still come?+

Yes. The property gets secured tonight regardless, and billing gets sorted after. Keep trying the landlord or agent, keep the crime reference number, and I'll document everything so whoever pays has what they need.

Our communal front door was forced, whose problem is it?+

The repair usually belongs to the freeholder or management company, but the insecurity is everyone's tonight. I can make the door close and lock this evening, then give the management company a proper quote for the full repair, I do this regularly on the converted houses round Charminster and Boscombe.

Can you make one room in a shared house secure tonight?+

Yes. A proper room lock fitted the same visit is a normal request after a break-in in an HMO, and where the landlord runs a master key I can fit something that keeps that working too.

How fast can you get here at night?+

From my Poole base I'm usually with people in central Bournemouth, Charminster or Springbourne inside 20 to 30 minutes, a touch longer out east. Burgled homes jump the queue, and the arrival time I give you on the phone is an honest one.

Need me in Bournemouth now?

Give me a ring. It’s the quickest way to get to you, usually 15 to 30 minutes, any time of day. Can’t talk? Leave your number and I’ll call you straight back. No call-out fee either way.

Bournemouth gives me more burglary repair work than anywhere else I cover, which matches what the police numbers say. Police.uk logs 121 burglaries within a mile of the town centre in the year to May 2026, nearly double Poole's figure, and forty of those fell in December and January alone. The housing takes the brunt in its own way, forced communal doors on the converted Victorian houses through Charminster, Springbourne and Boscombe, snapped cylinders on the estate doors at Kinson and West Howe, and flats standing insecure with a landlord two counties away. My job is to get the door solid again the same visit, whoever's door it is.

Flats, HMOs and landlords, the Bournemouth reality

Half the calls here start with somebody who doesn't own the door. If you're a tenant, ring your landlord or agent, then ring me, I can invoice them directly and I'll secure the property either way, nobody sleeps behind a broken door while paperwork gets argued. If you're a landlord getting this call from two hours away, I'll attend, photograph everything for you and the insurer, secure the flat and report back with what was damaged and what I did. Where a communal entrance has been forced I can make it close and lock tonight and quote the management company for the proper repair in daylight. And in a shared house I can put a solid lock on an individual room the same visit, because sometimes that's what lets someone stay the night.

Fix it better than it was

A burglary repair that rebuilds the door exactly as it was is an invitation. Snapped plain cylinders get TS 007 three-star anti-snap replacements. Wrecked multipoint gearboxes get new mechanisms, not bodges. Splintered timber frames get repaired and the keeps re-seated in solid wood, with London and Birmingham bars where a frame needs real reinforcement. The December and January spike in the police.uk numbers is as good a reason as any not to put the weak lock back on in November.
